William Peter Blatty is a novelist as well as a film director, screenwriter, producer and actor. He was born in New York City, New York on January 7th, 1928. Blatty is best known for authoring the 1971 supernatural thriller novel The Exorcist, which was adapted into The Exorcist film directed by William Friedkin in 1973. Blatty made his horror genre directorial debut in 1990 with the second sequel film to his seminal work, The Exorcist III, which adapted his novel Legion, first published in 1983.
