William Washington Beaudine was an American film and television director. He was born in New York City, New York on January 15th, 1892. His career in film began in the early days of the silent film era and continued on through the late 1960s, though by this point, he was mostly involved in television. With more than three-hundred movies under his belt, William Beaudine proved to be one of the most prolific directors of his era. In 1943, William Beaudine directed The Ape Man starring Bela Lugosi for Monogram Pictures. Yet another nail in the veritable coffin of Lugosi's spiraling career, Beaudine had the veteran Hungarian running around sloped over with excessive body hair as a half-man/half-ape creature.
