The character of Jack Russell was created by Roy Thomas, Jean Thomas & Gerry Conway and artist Mike Ploog. He first appeared in the "Night of Full Moon... Night of Fear!" story from Marvel Spotlight #2 from February, 1972. The tagline to this issue is "High above the city, a battle rages... were-beast -- Moon-Knight!" This issue is approved by the Comics Code Authority. This story begins on the second night of the full moon. Per the opening narration, Jack Russell is 19-years-old. This is the second appearance of Moon Knight. He appears next in Marvel Spotlight #28. That issue includes flashback scenes to events that take place in this issue. This is the second appearance of Frenchie. He appears next in Marvel Spotlight #28.. Raymond Coker was cured of being a werewolf in Werewolf by Night #21. According to Raymond Coker, Papa Jaranda died thirty-two years ago. Jeesala makes reference to Jericho Drumm in this issue. Jericho Drumm is a voodoo scholar known as Brother Voodoo. This is the first appearance of Papa Jaranda. He appears next in Werewolf by Night #41.
