V/H/S/Halloween is an American independent feature film of the anthology and found footage subgenres of horror. It is the eighth installment in the V/H/S film series. It was produced by Bloody Disgusting, Cinepocalypse Productions and Spooky Pictures in association with Studio71. It premiered at Fantastic Fest on September 19th, 2025 and was also screened at Beyond Fest on September 28th, 2025. It began streaming on Shudder on October 3rd, 2025. This film features five vignettes plus a framing throughline story called "Diet Phantasma", which includes a prologue, an epilogue, three interludes and a mid-credit bonus scene.
"Diet Phantasma"[]
Prologue
The frame narrative focuses in the documentary experiment scene in 1982, The Octagon Company is planning to launch a new soda called "Diet Phantasma". They bring in multiple subjects to try the formula before the beverage is put on shelves, with COO of the company, Dr Rothschild, being brought in as well to view the subject reviews. However, the subjects are unaware that the soda is made with the extract of vicious poltergeists that the Octagon Company has contained. The first subject, a man designated 37, tries it; he soon begins to bleed out of his face and eyes. The can then sprouts tentacles which attach to 37's face. The body and the room are then cleaned up for the next subjects.
First Interlude
Two new subjects, a man and woman known as 38 and 39, are brought in. The test does not go well; 38’s can sprays acid in his face, causing his face to swell and the skin on his hands to tear off. 39's can moves toward her as the tab flies off, enters her mouth, and exits through her throat, killing her.
Second Interlude
A young woman, Subject 40, is next. She takes a sip of her Diet Phantasma and claims that though it smells awful, it tastes good. When instructed to drink the whole can, the poltergeist inside causes the subject's hands to break and twist before she vomits a black substance onto the table. Subject 40, now possessed, is able to see through the observation mirror, which she uses to interact with the scientists. The observers hit a button causing the poltergeist to be sucked out of the subject and into a tube. She survives, but is taken away and burned alive with a flamethrower.
Third Interlude
The next subject is 41, a young boy, who tries a sample with a lower dosage of poltergeist extract in it. He says that he loves the soda and asks for another. The scientists comply, giving him a can with more extract. As 41 opens the can, he instantly explodes. The scientists proceed to clean up the room for the next test.
Epilogue
The final test involves six subjects, five adults and a young girl. The technician warns Dr. Rothschild that the equipment isn’t engineered to handle this many subjects, but he is furious that they're far behind schedule, so they proceed. As one subject opens her can, a video camera catches fire. Another subject gets his tongue ripped off after the can crushes itself in his mouth, then becomes possessed; the possessed subject crushes another subject's head until his eyes pop out, and he vomits the same black substance as Subject 40 all over another subject.
All the poltergeists are extracted from the subjects, except for the little girl, 47, who remains possessed. Dr. Rothschild asks what her favorite soda is; she replies, "Diet Phantasma." The other subjects - reanimated via possession - try to escape. With the knowledge that at least one person drank it and didn’t die, Dr. Rothschild orders his staff to manufacture and ship Diet Phantasma immediately using the formula 47 drank. Choppy frame narrative suggests that the possessed subjects then broke through the observation window and killed the researchers.
Subject 47 is seen in a commercial for Diet Phantasma; the commercial reveals that the soda is made from actual poltergeists. At first, 47 seems back to normal, but she drinks from a can and recites the product's slogan as her voice deepens and her eyes go solid white.

"Home Haunt"[]
Keith loves putting on his family's annual haunted house event, which is the highlight of his year and an extreme passion for him. He and wife Nancy's son Zack used to love the even when he was younger, but now that he is a teenager, he considers it and his father an embarrassment. Keith tries to cajole Zack into participating one more time, but Zack refuses. As it turns out, Nancy finds a way of blackmailing Keith into being a part of it, and he is not happy about that.
Keith brings Zack along with him to a local Halloween-themed retail store. Keith videotapes all of the wares even though the proprietor warns him against doing so. Keith sees a roped off area meant for employees only and sneaks inside to see what else they have. He finds a vintage vinyl record of Halloween creep music. Excited, Keith decides to steal the vinyl, but leaves some money on the counter to pay for it.
Keith, Nancy and Zack host the grand opening of their haunted house and there is an impressive line of people waiting to get inside. One of the patrons is a reluctant customer named Rich, who is only there because his wife forced him to go. Rick scoffs and rolls his eyes at every moment, telling Keith that all of his ghostly attractions look like "shit".
Keith brings the guests into a room where they begin to play the record that he stole from the Halloween store. The haunting sounds play for only a moment, then the record suddenly bursts into flame. Various items in the room begin moving about of their own accord, and the visitors can see that even Keith and Nancy are surprised by this.
Suddenly, and without warning, the spooky props spring to life. A white sheet ghost wraps itself around Rich and twists his body until his neck and spine snap. Other attractions spring to life and begin attacking the other guests. Chaos runs rampant as Keith and Nancy try to help people escape from the haunted house. Zack follows along behind them carrying a video camera, capturing the entire madness on tape. One of the ghoul figures leaps out and takes an axe to Rich's wife, Judy, cleaving her head in two. Nancy grabs the axe from it and grapples with the creature as Zack runs out of the room. More decorations spring to life and begin savagely murdering the other patrons, including children.
Zack, Keith and Nancy manage to survive and escape outside the house, only for a witch to fly out and grab Zack's camera. The witch proceeds to massacre children who are out trick-or-treating. The entrance to the haunted house, which is shaped like a monster's jaws and hands, begins to come to life and break free from the building as the footage ends.
