Trivia[]
- Director and screenwriter Jordan Peele provides the voice of the narrator for the VisionQuest fun house.
- Actors Lupita Nyong'o and Winston Duke also appeared together in the 2018 film Black Panther.
- The character of Danny is tethered to a doppelganger named Tony. These are named after Danny Torrance and his imaginary friend Tony from the 1980 film The Shining, which starred Jack Nicholson. Danny and Tony were portrayed in Us by actor Duke Nicholson who is the grandson of Jack Nicholson. Director Jordan Peele had no idea of this family connection when Duke was cast. He even instructed him to act like Lloyd, the bartender character featured in The Shining. This movie marks Duke Nicholson's feature film debut.
- During the 1986 prologue sequence, Rayne Thomas tells her husband Russell and daughter Adelaide that they are shooting a film over by the carousel. This is a reference to the 1987 film The Lost Boys, which included a scene at the same Santa Cruz boardwalk featured in Us, and would've been in the process of filming during the Summer of 1986.
- Actress Lupita Nyong'o based the voice of Red on that of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.; specifically the spasmodic dysphonia he suffered from. She worked extensively with a dialect coach and vocal therapist so as to not damage her voice.
- Inside the VisionQuest attraction on the Santa Cruz boardwalk, the words "Get Out" can be seen carved on the wall. This was the name of writer & director Jordan Peele's first film.
- Gabe Wilson's boat is named "Craw Daddy". Josh Tyler's boat is named "BYachtch".
What a tweest![]
- This film has a twist ending. In the very last scene, Adelaide has a flashback to 1986 Santa Cruz, which reveals that Red switched places with her at the amusement park. Red has been doubling as Adelaide ever since.
