This page chronicles events from the True Blood television series as well as "The Southern Vampire Mysteries" series of novels by Charlaine Harris. With the exception of established dates, this timeline assumes that the events herein take place in the years in which the episodes of the TV series first aired.
Bill Compton is weak and hungry following a battle in the Civil War. He seeks shelter with a woman named Lorena, but soon learns that she is a vampire. Lorena turns Bill into a vampire. Note: In Dead Until Dark, he was made a vampire in 1870.
Saturday (evening): Bill Compton goes to Merlotte's Bar and Grill and meets Sookie Stackhouse for the first time. Patrons Mack and Denise Rattray lure Bill into a trap in order to steal his blood, but Sookie rescues him.
Sunday (evening): Mack and Denise Rattray ambush Sookie outside of Merlotte's. Bill Compton appears and saves Sookie by killing the Rattrays. To recover from her wounds, Sookie is forced to drink some of Bill's blood.
Stan Baker and other Dallas-based vampires murder the Newlin family and make it appear like a car accident. One surviving member, Steve Newlin, will take his father's place as leader of the Fellowship of the Sun.
