The Demonic Toys.
Toys are playthings for children designed to entertain and fuel a child's imagination. But mostly it keeps them busy during long drives and whenever parents don't wanna deal with their kids. There exists a perverse notion that as one grows older it is "time to put away childish things". In lieu of feeding this childhood need, adult women tend to fill the void of absent toys in their lives by purchasing expensive jewelry to show off to their friends, while grown men compensate by buying ridiculously overpriced sports cars and going to titty bars.
In the horror genre, toys have a tendency to become more than a simple child's plaything. More often than not, they seem to come to life and are primed and ready to kill a mo'fo. This is usually accomplished through supernatural means, though some may also develop some killer street cred through technological wizardry as well.
Charles Lee Ray, a criminal and an amateur occultist displaced his own soul into the shell of a Good Guy doll in order to save his own life. Calling himself Chucky, Ray sought to regain a living corporeal form by taking control of a child named Andy Barclay. [1]
Another classic incident of killer toys came about as the result of a demonic spirit trapped beneath the foundation of an Arcadia Toys warehouse. Using the blood of a gunshot victim to empower him, he reanimated a collection of old toys, giving them strength, power and an unrelenting need to kill. [2]
