Tony Todd was an American film and television actor born Timothy Henry Todd in Washington, D.C. on December 4th, 1954. Distinguished by his intense features and deep, gravelly voice, Todd has become a modern day icon of the horror genre. He was best known for playing the role of vengeful spirit Daniel Robitaille in the Candyman series of films. Todd's first role in a horror project was an episode of the short-lived series Werewolf titled "Unicorn". His first major film role was playing the part of Ben, the protagonist from Tom Savini's 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead.

In 2006, Todd was one of several horror film icons to make a cameo role in the independent Adam Green slasher film Hatchet. Tony played a Voodoo con-man named Reverend Zombie. Green only had Todd for one day, so a stand-in was used for reshoots showing Todd's character from behind. Tony reprised the role of Reverend Zombie for the 2010 sequel, Hatchet II, this time playing a much larger role. Reverend Zombie was one of the principal characters in the film and he once again played opposite several notable genre veterans such as R.A. Mihailoff, Tom Holland and John Carl Buechler.

Tony Todd passed away in Marina del Rey, California on November 6th, 2024 after battling a long term illness. He was sixty-nine years old.
