A throat injury is the result of physical trauma to the throat. This can come in many forms. In slasher fiction, a killer often commits murder by slicing open someone's throat, which causes them to bleed to death. This effect can also be achieved through a process of stabbing or other forms of a penetration with a bladed weapon, such as getting shot with a bow and arrow. There are several supernatural creatures that will cause throat injuries as well, particularly vampires and werewolves. Vampires use fangs to pierce a person's jugular in order to drink their blood. If they are a kind-hearted sort of undead, they might even leave their victim intact with only two small puncture wounds. Other vampires are not so discerning and will make a right bloody mess of things. Werewolves are even less picky. They'll go for the throat and tear ya into a pile of shredded pork.
