The Lost World: Jurassic Park is an American science fiction/adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg. It is the second installment in the Jurassic Park film series developed by Spielberg based on a novel by Michael Crichton. The film was produced by Universal Pictures and Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment and was released theatrically in the United States on May 23rd, 1997. The story takes place four years after the events of the first Jurassic Park and scientist Doctor Ian Malcolm discovers that John Hammond is sending a research team to site B on Isla Sorna to study the flourishing breeds of genetically engineered dinosaurs on the island. Initially refusing to entertain any more of Hammond's ideas, Malcolm changes his mind when he discovers that his girlfriend Sarah Harding has already flown to the island. Now, the expedition has just become a rescue mission as Malcolm struggles to protect a group of people from a dangerous threat that he knows only all too well.
