The Hitcher is an American horror film of the action/suspense subgenres. It is directed by Robert Harmon and written by Eric Red. It was produced by TriStar Pictures and released theatrically in the United States on February 21st, 1986. The film stars Rutger Hauer as John Ryder, C. Thomas Howell as Jim Halsey, and Jennifer Jason Leigh as Nash.
