"The Reluctant Vampire" is the seventh episode of season three of the horror anthology series Tales from the Crypt and the thirty-first episode of the series overall. It was directed by Elliot Silverstein and written by Terry Black. It first aired on HBO on July 10th, 1991. The episode stars Malcolm McDowell, Sandra Dickinson, George Wendt, Michael Berryman and Paul Gleason.

- This episode is included on disc two of the Tales from the Crypt: The Complete Third Season DVD collection.
- This episode is adapted from the second story in Vault of Horror #20 entitled "The Reluctant Vampire!". The story was written by Al Feldstein and illustrated by Jack Davis. In the story, the vampire's name is Mister Drink.
- This is the first episode of Tales from the Crypt directed by Elliot Silverstein. His next episode is "Curiosity Killed".
- This is the third and final episode of Tales from the Crypt written by Terry Black. He previously wrote "Dig That Cat... He's Real Gone" and "Korman's Kalamity". He also writes three episodes of the Tales from the Cryptkeeper animated series.
- Actress Sandra Dickinson is credited as Sandra Searles Dickinson in this episode.

Allusions[]
- Mister Crosswhite refers to Donald Longtooth as "Lugosi". This is a reference to Hungarian film actor Bela Lugosi, who is best known for portraying the role of Dracual in the 1931 Tod Browning film Dracula.
- The surname Van Helsing is taken from the character of Abraham Van Helsing, as first envisioned by Irish author Bram Stoker in his 1891 novel Dracula.
