Strangulation is what you do when ya really wanna throttle the crap outta someone. The act itself is usually conducted with the intent of killing the target in question, but may also be used as a form of torture. Some freaks however, also employ it as a sexual practice, known as auto-erotic asphyxiation.
Strangulation is usually employed using a person's bare hands, which they wrap around someone's throat, squeezing tighter and tighter until their victim turns blue in the face and ultimately keels over. A successful strangulation may also be achieved through the use of an accessory, such as a length of rope, a piece of wire, a garrote, etc.

- Funhouse, The: A demented maniac wearing a Frankenstein mask paid a fortune teller named Madame Zena to have sex with him, but when she refuse to refund his money after he prematurely ejaculated, he strangled her to death while slamming her body against an electrical panel, which subsequently shorted out all of the power to the fun park that she worked at.
- Hollow Man: Sebastian Caine strangles Janice Walton with a rubber tube.
- Maniac: Frank Zito slowly strangles a prostitute to death in a hotel room.
- Mummy's Shroud, The: The mummy Prem strangles Stanley Preston to death.
- Us: Adelaide strangles Red with the chain from her handcuffs and breaks her neck.

- Dark Shadows: 614: Joe Haskell attempts to strangle a napping Barnabas Collins with a curtain tie cord. Barnabas falls unconscious, and Joe believes that he is dead.
- Dark Shadows: 1053: Roger Collins of Parallel Time strangles Elizabeth Collins Stoddard of Parallel Time.
- Kolchak: The Night Stalker: Mr. R.I.N.G.: The Mr. R.I.N.G. robot strangles its creator.
- Walking Dead: Knots Untie: During a scuffle between Rick's group and the Hilltop Colony, Andy tries strangling Abraham Ford. The fight ceases however.
- Walking Dead: Bury Me Here: Morgan Jones strangles Richard to death in front of the Saviors and members of the Kingdom, revealing how he sabotaged their arrangement.
In comics[]
- Walking Dead 107: Negan and Rick Grimes fight and Negan begins strangling Rick after getting kicked down by him. The fight concludes with no fatalities.
- Walking Dead 113: Connor attacks Andrea in the bell tower. After beating her face repeatedly, he begins to strangle her, but Andrea fights him off.
