Stoner refers to a type of person who habitually uses recreational drugs. In particular, marijuana. As an archetype, stoners are generally portrayed as teenage male characters, who are shown to be lacking sound judgment and give the appearance of being of low intellect.

- Freddy vs. Jason: The character of Bill Freeburg is seen smoking a joint several times in the movie. In one scene, he had a drug-induced dream wherein Freddy Krueger takes the form of the caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland and smokes from a hookah. Bill Freeburg's character is patterned after actor Jason Mewes from the Jay and Silent Bob film series.
- Friday the 13th (2009): In the remake of this classic the character of Chuey is shown to be constantly smoking marijuana and making dumb drug-induced commentary.
- Friday the 13th Part 3: The characters of Chuck and Chili are always smoking joints. Chuck in particular is patterned in the style of Tommy Chong.
