Biography[]

Steve Graham was a psychotherapist who lived in Utah with his artist wife, Annie, and his two children, Peter and Charlie. Annie was one of Steve's patients, whom he later married. Annie's demented mother, Ellie, lived with the Grahams for a time, until her health deteriorated to the point that she had to be put into hospice. She eventually died, and Steve attended the funeral. A week later, Steve received a telephone call about vandalism at the cemetery and that Ellie's body was missing. Steve addressed the matter, but took measures to make sure Annie didn't know what had happened.

The Grahams suffered a major tragedy when Charlie was brutally killed during an automobile accident. Steve was placed in the position of having to maintain emotional strength, while both Annie and Peter descended into a spiral of grief and torment. Annie managed to communicate with Charlie's ghost, but this was actually a grand manipulation wrought by an evil spirit known as Paimon, who wanted to take possession of Peter.

Annie had Charlie's sketchbook, and when she grew too frightened of events taking place at their house, she tried to burn it, only to find that her own body was being burned as a result. She then asked Steve to dispose of the sketchbook in the fireplace, but Steve refused, as this would only feed Annie's growing dementia. Annie took the book and cast it into the fireplace herself. The act of which, caused Steve to spontaneously burst into flames and he burned to death.
