Bulgaria is a country located in Southeastern Europe. It is bordered by Romania to the north, Serbia and Macedonia to the west, Greece and Turkey to the south and the Black Sea to the east. With a territory of 110,994 square kilometers (42,855 sq mi), Bulgaria is Europe's 14th-largest country. Its location has made it a historical crossroad for various civilizations and as such it is the home of some of the earliest metalworking, religious and other cultural artifacts in the world.
The vampire count known as Yorga (or Iorga) is originally from Bulgaria. In the late 1960s, he emigrated to the United States and began slurping the blood out of comely, young hippies along with his deformed assistant, Brudah. It is possible that Brudah hailed from Bulgaria as well, though this remains unclear. [1]
Sofia is the capital and largest city of Bulgaria and the 15th largest city in the European Union with a population of 1.2 million people. It is located in western Bulgaria, at the foot of Mount Vitosha and approximately at the centre of the Balkan Peninsula. The Vampire Diaries star Nina Constantinova Dobreva was born in Sofia on January 9th, 1989. On The Vampire Diaries she plays the role of the main character Elena Gilbert.
