The Shallows is an American feature film of the predatory animal and survival horror subgenres. It was directed by Jaume Collet-Serra with a screenplay written by Anthony Jaswinski. It was produced by Columbia Pictures, Ombra Films and Weimaraner Republic Pictures. It was released through Sony Pictures and premiered in New York City, New York on June 21st, 2016. It opened to nationwide release in the United States on June 24th, 2016. The film stars Blake Lively as Nancy Adams - an expert surfer who goes on holiday in Tijuana and decides to explore a secret beach that was once important to her mother. Naturally, there's a big ole shark that shows up that wants to go "Chompa Chompa!"
