Hellraiser 009 - Severed face

A severed face is when someone forcibly removes the facial region from an individual using a sharp object, while leaving rest of the cranium intact. The process by how this is done is generally referred to as flaying. A severed face is one of the more horrific fates to befall an individual, but it has occurred in many elements of horror fiction, particularly "Grindhouse"-style movie fare such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Examples[]

  • Hellraiser: After solving the Lemarchand puzzle box, Frank Cotton was brutally dragged to Hell where he was dismembered. A portion of his face, including his nose, right eye and forehead was removed from his body by the Cenobites, preserved and pinned onto a revolving pillar, along with other detached body parts.
