Severed ear

A severed ear is an ear that has been deliberately removed from the body. This mostly relates to humans, but may also apply to animals as well. Except for frogs. Frogs don't have ears.

Films

• Fly, The: In the remake of The Fly, Seth Brundle began slowly transforming into a large bipedal insect man. As such, his body began eschewing the parts that it deemed unnecessary or redundant, including his ear, which fell off of his head into his hand.
• Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III: The survivalist Benny uses a shotgun and blasts off Tinker Sawyer's ear. Oddly enough, it was a clean shot and the ear was left relatively intact.
• Phantasm II: The Tall Man telekinetically sends one of his Sentinel spheres to attack Father Meyers. One of them produces a razor, which slices off the priest's ear.

Television

The Walking Dead

During season two, our favorite good ole boy Daryl Dixon went through something of a mentally burdonsome experience, resulting from an infected injury and an attack by some walkers. During this tense emotional state, he took to cutting off the ears of walkers he had destroyed and stringing them on a necklace as trophies.

• "Chupacabra": Daryl Dixon, in a delusional and exhausted state, cuts off the ears from three walkers and strings them on a leather cord, which he wears around his neck. Andrea is one of the first to notice this bizarre trophy when he makes it back to the Greene farm.
• "Triggerfinger": Carol Peletier found Daryl's collection of severed undead ears drying on a clothes line at the Greene farm.

Notes

• Severed ears redirects to this page.

• If one's head is severed, by extension, it could be argued that their ear has been severed as well, as it is no longer attached to the main body.
