A screwdriver is a common tool used for tightening and loosening screws in objects. Screwdrivers usually come with two different styles, a straight head, which is just a single edged piece of metal, and a Phillip's head, which is an X-shaped tip. Screwdriver bits are also included with most modern power drills, as well as multitool devices.
In Friday the 13th Part 2, deranged killer Jason Voorhees tracked down Alice Hardy - the woman who killed his mother, Pamela Voorhees. He broke into her home, came up behind her and drove a screwdriver into her head. This was Jason's first murder committed with a screwdriver.
In the 1984 horror film Friday the 13th: A New Beginning, Tommy Jarvis had a dream that Jason Voorhees rose from the dead and killed two grave robbers. He stabbed Neil Cooke in the stomach with a machete, and stabbed Les Lancaster in the neck with a screwdriver.
In the movie Return of the Living Dead Part II, a character named Billy Crowley attacked Jesse Wilson with a screwdriver. Jesse fought back as Billy was holding the screwdriver and pushed him into a power transformer.
In the 2009 remake of Friday the 13th, masked killer Jason Voorhees used a screwdriver to kill a youth named Chewie by driving it into the side of his neck.
In the 2016 horror film The Boy, a young woman named Greta Evans armed herself with a screwdriver as defense against Brahms Heelshire. Brahms tried to pull Greta toward him to make out with her, at which point she stabed him in the abdomen. Brahms tried to choke her, but Greta pushed the sharp tip of the screwdriver into his stomach.
On the AMC television series Preacher, the character of Tulip O'Hare was on the hunt for a former partner named Carlos, who was responsible for her miscarriage. She described her intent to do harm to Carlos to Jesse Custer by saying, "Now I found him. All's that's left to do is go over there and get him, tie him to a table, cut his freakin' balls off, and, over and over, stab him in the face with a screwdriver".
In the 2021 film Baby Oopsie, doll-maker Sybil Pittman uses a screwdriver to dislodge a Satanic talisman from the inner workings of the Baby Oopsy Daisy doll.
