Notes & Trivia[]
- Production on Scream 3 began on July 6th, 1999. Principal photography concluded on September 29th, 1999. Reshoots were conducted in January of 2000. The movie was shot in Los Angeles, California.
- Scream 3 was released to DVD as part of Dimension Films' Collector's Series on July 4th, 2000. It was re-released on DVD and Blu-ray by Miramax and Lions Gate Entertainment on March 29th, 2011. The movie is also included in the Scream Triple Pack DVD collection.
- This is the only film in the Scream franchise to feature only one main antagonist.
- It is the only film that survivor Dewey Riley has been conscious during the ending: In both Scream and Scream 2 he is stabbed in the back by Ghostface and in Scream 4 he is knocked unconscious by Jill Roberts.
- Scream 3 has more aspects of comedy in its tone compared to the preceding two films mainly due to the Columbine High School massacre which took place a year prior to its release.
- The events of Columbine also scrapped the original intended idea of Stu Macher surviving and orchestrating attacks on high school students while imprisoned as they didn't want to associate violence and murder with a high school setting. Instead, the plot was moved to Hollywood with an adult cast and Stu's motive was retooled into the character of Roman Bridger.
- The fictional cast of Scream 3 (with the exception of Sarah Darling and Tyson Fox) all have names which reference famous real-life actors and actresses.
- Tom Prinze - Tom Cruise and Freddie Prinze Jr.
- Angelina Tyler - Angelina Jolie and Liv Tyler
- Jennifer Jolie - Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie
