Saw is an American horror movie of the slasher subgenre. It was written and directed by James Wan and produced by Twisted Pictures, Saw Productions, Inc. and Evolution Entertainment. It was released theatrically in the United States on October 29th, 2004. The movie stars Tobin Bell as a mysterious serial killer known as Jigsaw. Adding to the cast is Predator 2 star Danny Glover and Dracula actor Cary Elwes. Obsessed with teaching his victims the value of life, a deranged, sadistic serial killer abducts the morally wayward. Once captured, they must face impossible choices in a horrific game of survival. The victims must fight to win their lives back, or die trying...

- Production on Saw began on September 15th, 2003. Pre-production work concluded on September 21st, 2003. Principal filming commenced on September 22nd, 2003 and wrapped on October 11th, 2003. The film was shot at the Lacy Street Production Center in Los Angeles, California.
- The full-screen edition of Saw was released to DVD by Lions Gate Entertainment on February 15th, 2005. The unrated two-disc special edition was released by Lions Gate on October 18th, 2005. The film is also included on The Saw Trilogy DVD boxset collection.
- Producer Oren Koules, also plays the role of dead cellmate Donnie Greco, though he is uncredited for his participation in this capacity.
