Samuel Goodman Hoffenstein was a Russian film screenwriter. He was born in Kera, Russia on October 9th, 1890 and died in Los Angeles, California on October 6th, 1947 at the age of 56.
Samuel Hoffenstein's first work in the horror genre was co-writing the screenplay for the 1931 film adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with Percy Heath.
In 1943, Samuel Hoffenstein co-wrote the screenplay for the Universal Pictures film adapatation of Gaston Leroux's Phantom of the Opera along with Eric Taylor and John Jacoby.
