Sam Raimi is an American film director best known for creating the Evil Dead franchise. He is also the founder of Ghost House Underground, a horror film label of Lions Gate Entertainment. Raimi's first project was a 1977 short called It's Murder!, which starred Bruce Campbell. Campbell and Raimi would go to work on numerous projects together. The 1978 horror spoof Within the Woods served as a proto-film for what would eventually become the first Evil Dead movie. Outside of the horror genre, Raimi is also known as the driving force behind the twin fantasy television programs, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena, Warrior Princess. He also directed the three Spider-Man feature films.
