The Salvatore Boarding House is a fictional location featured in the CW Network television series The Vampire Diaries. The house is the family residence of the Salvatore family and is one of the primary sets used in the series.
The boarding house is actually an old mansion owned by the Salvatore family and is located in the town of Mystic Falls, Virginia. In the modern era, it is maintained by the human Zach Salvatore. In 2009, the vampire brothers Damon and Stefan Salvatore returned to Mystic Falls after having been away for many years. Stefan returned due to a budding interest in high school student Elena Gilbert. Damon returned in the hopes of "curing" his brother of his resistance towards consuming human blood. (VD: Pilot)
Elena Gilbert first went to the boarding house shortly after meeting Stefan. When she arrived however, it was actually Damon who greeted her, who welcomed her with open arms. Stefan acted cooly towards them both, fearing that Damon might have unwelcome intentions towards Elena. (VD: The Night of the Comet)
