Saltonstall is a fictional group leader and a one-time character featured on the Preacher television series on AMC. Played by actor Fredric Lehne, he appeared in flashback in the seventh episode of season two titled, "Pig".
Biography[edit | edit source]
Saltonstall was a middle-aged man who was the leader of a secret society known as The Grail. The purpose of his organization was to preserve the bloodline of Jesus Christ, which had remained undiluted for more than two millennia. Saltonstall sought out potential recruits for the organization, always seeking those who shared his strong Christian beliefs.
Saltonstall believed he had found a worthy leader in the form of Helmut Starr - a German military officer. Starr exceeded all of Saltonstall's expectations, even though he demonstrated a flare for brutality and an apparent disrespect for authority.
On the day that Saltonstall told Starr that he was being accepted for membership into The Grail, the two shared a drink on the balcony. Once everything was made official, Herr Starr pushed Saltonstall off the balcony to his death. Afterward, Starr assumed control of The Grail.
