He was born Rodolfo Alfonso Raffaello Pierre Filibert Guglielmi di Valentina d'Antonguella in Castellaneta, Apulia, Italy on May 6th, 1895. He died on August 23rd, 1926 of complications of pleuritis at the age of 31.

American Horror Story[]

The FX Network television series American Horror Story presented a fictionalized version of Valentino's life and career. At some point in the 1920s, Valentino and his wife Natacha Rambova met German director F.W. Murnau of Nosferatu fame, who happened to be a vampire. Murnau infected Valentino with the virus, which granted him eternal life. Valentino faked his own death by killing a stunt double and later turned a up-and-coming actress named Elizabeth Johnson into a vampire as well. Johnson, who became known as The Countess, had been married to a serial killer named James Patrick March. When March discovered his wife's connection to Valentino, he had Rudolph and Natacha imprisoned in his personal "murder palace", the elite hostel known as the Hotel Cortez.
