Ron Updyke is a fictional news reporter and a supporting character on the 1974-1975 ABC horror series Kolchak: The Night Stalker. Played by actor Jack Grinnage, he was introduced in the pilot episode of the series, "Ripper", and appeared in a total of 18 out of 20 episodes. His final appearance was in "The Youth Killer".

Overview[]

Ron Updyke was a reporter for the Independent News Service based out of Chicago, Illinois. He worked under editor Tony Vincenzo and often contributed to many stories that were written by his colleague Carl Kolchak. Updyke did not care for Kolchak very much and was often the butt of the older man's wisecracks. However, Ron was not entirely humorless and occasionally issued his own bad jokes in order to lighten a tense mood.
