Rites of Vengeance is an American film short of the psychological crime drama subgenre of horror. It was written and directed by Izzy Lee. It was produced by Izzy Lee, Mary McDonagh and Paul Furio. It was photographed, edited and composed by Jarret Blinkhorn. The short was produced by Nihil Noctem Films and distributed through ALTER. It premiered at the Morbido Film Fest in Mexico on October 31st, 2017.
Plot[]
A priest stands in the nave of his empty church. He reads a passage from the Bible then kisses the book after he closes it. He then blows out several candles and retreats into the rectory. In his room alone, the priest looks at a photograph that he keeps inside of a drawer.
Suddenly and without warning, a nun enters the church and walks towards the priest's chamber. She surprises him as she enters his room, just as another nun emerges through a different door carrying a baseball bat. A third nun enters the room holding up a child's soccer sweater. The first nun produces a pair of underwear and shoves it into the priest's mouth. As he struggles, the other two nuns take turns striking at him with baseball bats. The man's head is busted open as he slumps to the floor.
The nuns then silently wrap up his body and drag him out into the center of the church. One of them takes a stack of photographs and casts them upon the priest's body. One of them imagines seeing two children sitting in the pews and a look of sadness crosses her face. The three nuns then turn and leave. [1]
