Rick Rosenthal is an American film director born in New York City, New York on June 15th, 1949. Rosenthal's directorial debut was the 1981 to John Carpenter's Halloween, appropriately titled, Halloween II. He also directed a 1992 unaired pilot for a Witches of Eastwick television series that never went into production. His next feature film was the made-for-TV movie The Birds II. For this film, Rosenthal was credited under the pseudonym "Alan Smithee", an alias used by film directors who wish to disown a particular project. Rosenthal returned to the Halloween franchise in 2002 when he helmed Halloween: Resurrection, the final installment of the Carpenter-era Halloween films. Rosenthal made a cameo appearance in the movie playing the role of a professor.
