Ready or Not is an American feature film of the psychological suspense thriller and dark comedy subgenres of horror. It was directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett under the collective name of Radio Silence with a script written by Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy. The movie was presented by Searchlight Pictures and produced by Radio Silence Productions, Vinson Films, and Mythology Entertainment in association with TSG Entertainment. It premiered in Brazil on March 12th, 2019. It was then screened at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Canada on July 27th, 2019. It opened to wide theatrical release in the United States and Canada on August 21st, 2019.

The movie was filmed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Scenes of the Le Domas house were filmed at the Parkwood Estate and Casa Loma, as well as the YMCA in Oshawa. ^[1] The exterior shots of the wedding ceremony, shot at Parkwood Estates, has been featured in several movies including Billy Madison, X-Men, Bulletproof Monk and episodes of Hemlock Grove.
Ready or Not had a budget of $6,000,000. It grossed $8,015,590 over its US domestic opening on the August 21st-24th weekend and had a total gross of $28,714,231 during its entire domestic run. It grossed another $28,901,546 internationally for total worldwide earnings of $57,615,777. ^[2]
Ready or Not came in at number 2 at the box office on its opening mid-week premiere, falling just $58,567 behind Good Boys, which was entering its second week.
At its widest release, Ready or Not was screened in 2,270 movie theaters.
Ready or Not was released on Blu-ray with Digital HD by Twentieth Century Fox Home Video on December 3rd, 2019. ^[3]

Actress Alicia Richardson, who plays a police officer, had her scenes deleted from the final cut of the film.
The title of this film is taken from a line that one associates with the game Hide and Seek. In the game, the person charged with being the seeker, closes their eyes and counts to a predetermined number in order to give others the opportunity to hide. When the countdown runs out, the seeker shouts "Ready or not, here I come!" This line is also spoken by some disembodied voice at the end of the credit sequence in the film. It is the only time that the title of the movie is actually used in the film.
Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, collectively credited as Radio Silence, also directed the fifth installment of the Scream film series in 2022 as well as Scream VI in 2023. Ready or Not star Samara Weaving makes a guest appearance in Scream VI.
Co-director Matt Bettinelli-Olpin has an uncredited cameo appearance in the film as the voice of the motorist that refuses to stop to help Grace as she is out on the road.
Writers Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy make a came appearance in the film as the How to Use a Crossbow instructors on the YouTube video that Fitch Bradley watches.
Producer James Vanderbilt makes a cameo appearance in the film as Mister LeBail - the one who started the entire Le Domas gaming fortune.
Although there are some supernatural elements incorporated into the film, they are not revealed until the very end.
Actress Nicky Guadagni, who plays Aunt Helene in this film, also played Margot Lyons in the "Abattoir" episode of Damien in 2016.
Actor Liam MacDonald, who plays Georgie Le Domas in this film, is not to be confused with actor Liam MacDonald, who played the role of Troy in the "Amuse-Bouche" episode from season one of Hannibal in 2013.
