This book adapts the opening scene from the Puppet Master feature film in 1989.
Even though they are referred to as puppets in this series, the animated toy antagonists are actually dolls.
This issue includes a photo pin-up of Blade from the film.
The origins of Andre Toulon and Elsa Toulon are explored in greater detail in the film Puppet Master III: Toulon's Revenge. Given that the film was released some time after the comic, many details have been changed, though the basic components of the Toulons' back-story is retained in both versions.
