Psycho IV: The Beginning is an American television movie of the psychological thriller subgenre of horror. It is the fourth and final installment of the original Psycho film series, and the final film in the series to star franchise lead Anthony Perkins in the infamous role of recovering psychopath Norman Bates. The movie was directed by Mick Garris with a screenplay written by Joseph Stefano. It was produced by Universal TV and MCA and first aired on Showtime on November 10th, 1990. In addition to Anthony Perkins, the films stars former E.T. actor Henry Thomas as young Norman Bates in flashback scenes, as well as Olivia Hussey as young Norma Bates, and CCH Pounder as crisis counselor Fran Ambrose.
