TV series

Preacher is an American live-action television series based on the comic book series created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon and published by Vertigo. It began airing on AMC on May 22nd, 2016. The show stars Dominic Cooper in the eponymous role of Texas preacher Jesse Custer. Other stars include Joseph Gilgun as the vampire known as Cassidy, Ruth Negga as Tulip O'Hare, Lucy Griffiths as Emily Woodrow, W. Earl Brown as the town sheriff, Hugo Root, Derek Wilson as Donnie Schenck, Tom Brooke as Fiore, Ian Colletti as Eugene "Arseface" Root, and Anatol Yusef as DeBlanc.

Comic series

Preacher is an ongoing comic book series of the supernatural drama genre. It was created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon and was published by Vertigo - an imprint of DC Comics. The series takes place in a self-contained continuity, seperate from that of the mainstream DC Universe as well as other Vertigo titles. The title follows the journey of Jesse Custer - a West Texas minister who finds himself bound to a creature called Genesis, which is the unnatural offspring of an angel and a demon. Gifted with the power to command obedience in others, Jesse sets out with his friends Cassidy and Tulip O'Hare on a search to find God.

  • The pilot episode had a special 90-minute running time.
  • A follow-up feature, "Talking Preacher", hosted by Chris Hardwick, aired on the night following the initial broadcast of the pilot episode. It was a 30-minute talk-show segment in much the same vein as "The Talking Dead", which accompanied The Walking Dead.
