Preacher is an ongoing comic book series of the supernatural drama genre. It was created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon and was published by Vertigo - an imprint of DC Comics. The series takes place in a self-contained continuity, seperate from that of the mainstream DC Universe as well as other Vertigo titles. The title follows the journey of Jesse Custer - a West Texas minister who finds himself bound to a creature called Genesis, which is the unnatural offspring of an angel and a demon. Gifted with the power to command obedience in others, Jesse sets out with his friends Cassidy and Tulip O'Hare on a search to find God.

A follow-up feature, "Talking Preacher", hosted by Chris Hardwick, aired on the night following the initial broadcast of the pilot episode. It was a 30-minute talk-show segment in much the same vein as "The Talking Dead", which accompanied The Walking Dead.
