Description[]
Pineview Institute is a posh mental health facility located in White Pine Bay, Oregon. It is one of two such facilities in the area, the other being the less-reputable county hospital. When Norma Bates realized that she could no longer administer proper care to her son, Norman, she tried to get him into Pineview. However, she had no medical history on Norman, no insurance, and there was a large waiting list to get into the place.
Sheriff Alex Romero, who always had a soft spot for Norma, despite being constantly exasperated by her, took a large sum of money that he had stolen from the late Bob Paris, and bribed the admitting staff at Pineview into accepting Norman as a patient. As Norman was 18-years-old however, he had to voluntarily commit himself. After a harrowing incident at home, Norma convinced him to commit himself to Pineview.
In order to satisfy the insurance issue, Alex Romero agreed to marry Norma Bates, so that she could have the benefit of his insurance.
