Lord of Illusions[]
Philip Swann was once a follower of the black magic user and cult leader known as Nix. As Nix's protege, Philip learned a meager amount of true magic, but his specialty was in prestidigitation. Philip betrayed Nix and pulled several strong-willed colleagues along with him. Together they raided Nix's bunker to rescue a young kidnap victim named Dorothea. Dorothea shot Nix, and Swann applied a binding mask to him, preventing him from using his power. He then buried him deep in the Mojave Desert.
