Overview[]

Oscar was one of the five inmates (along with Tomas, Big Tiny, Andrew and Axel) found at the prison, where they witnessed Rick Grimes hacking off Hershel Greene's bitten shin with a hatchet. Unlike Tomas and Andrew, Oscar possesses no malicious intentions and seems to be a good-natured person. When Andrew causes the prison to be overrun by a herd of walkers in revenge of Rick locking him out after murdering Tomas, Oscar proves his loyalty to Rick and his group by choosing their side and shooting Andrew in the head, promptly handing Rick back his gun soon afterwards. Oscar and Axel, the last two living prisoners, manage to integrate themselves into the group and Oscar helps Daryl Dixon, Rick and Michonne in the rescue mission to retrieve Glenn Rhee and Maggie Greene from Woodbury. During the assault, Rick hesitates to shoot a soldier that he hallucinates as Shane Walsh, as "Shane" then kills Oscar by shooting him in the back as he helps the injured Glenn escape. He is then promptly shot in the head by Maggie to prevent his death and Axel is distraught upon hearing the news.
