Is a remake of the original The Old Dark House directed by James Whale in 1932.

Production on The Old Dark House began on May 4th, 1962. Principal photography concluded on June 22nd, 1962.

Though co-produced by both American and UK productions companies, The Old Dark House premiered in the United States nearly three years prior to its first screening in the UK.

Anthony Hinds is uncredited for his contributions to this film. Hinds has co-produced many of the classic "Hammer Horror" films of the 1950s-70s.

Veteran horror actor Boris Karloff was offered a role in the remake as recognition of his work in the original film, but turned it down because he disliked the script.

Amy Dalby is uncredited in this film.

The title sequence illustrations were done by none other than Charles Addams. Inspired by the original The Old Dark House, Addams went on to create the popular TV and future film franchise The Addams Family.
