A newscaster is a man or woman who verbally broadcasts noteworthy events over the television or radio. In the horror genre, this is usually done so during an outbreak of mass panic, such as a plague of zombies infesting a rural community. In one specific circumstance, a Los Angeles reporter named Karen White warned the viewing public about the existence of werewolves shortly before transforming into a werewolf on live television. One newscaster reported on another grisly episode, the so-called Crystal Lake Massacre. The broadcaster interviewed a Wessex County police officer named J. Jameson regarding the recent murder spree perpetuated by masked killer Jason Voorhees.
Taylor Madison was a news correspondent for WNKW Action News channel 18. He reported news about three murders committed by ten-year-old Michael Myers at the Myers residence on Halloween night. Michael's victims included his sister Judith, a teenager named Steve Haley and a man named Ronnie White. Taylor later did an update piece outside Smith's Grove Sanitarium. He tried to get an interview with Deborah Myers, but security guard Ismael Cruz chased him away
