My Soul to Take is a 2010 American horror film written and directed by genre master Wes Craven. It was produced by Relativity Media, Rogue Pictures and Corvus Corax Productions and released theatrically in the United States on October 8th, 2010. The film takes place in the fictional town of Riverton - a town haunted by it's own tragic history where a serial killer named Abel, known as the Riverton Ripper, murdered several people before disappearing more than sixteen years ago. In the present, there are seven teenagers who all share one thing in common - they were all born on the exact day that the Ripper disappeared. The Riverton Ripper lives on as an urban legend until somebody, possibly even the Ripper himself, begins systematically slaughtering his way through the Riverton Seven.

Notes & Trivia[]

  • The tagline for this film is "Only one has the power to save their souls".
  • The title of the film is taken from a line from the children's prayer, Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. The version printed in The New England Primer goes:
Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep;
If I die before I wake,
I pray the Lord my soul to take.
