"Herman the Rookie" is the twenty-ninth episode of season one of The Munsters and was directed by Jerry Paris. It first aired on CBS on April 8th, 1965. In the episode, Herman tries to teach Eddie how to play baseball. While practicing, Herman hits a ball eight blocks out of the park, striking a baseball promoter named Leo Durocher. Impressed, Durocher signs Herman to play for his team. Lily shows little interest, but Grandpa grows excited at the prospect of extra money. However, Herman has yet to endear himself to his other teammates.
