- Production on The Mothman Prophecies began on January 24th, 2001. Principal photography concluded in May of 2001. The movie was shot in the cities of Bentleyville, Ginger Hill, Kittanning, West Mifflin and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with some scenes being filmed in Washington, D.C..
- The Mothman Prophecies was released on VHS on October 1st, 2002 by Sony Pictures Entertainment. It was released to DVD (Region 1) on June 4th, 2002. The Special Edition DVD was released on May 27th, 2003.
