Morales, first name unknown, was the patriarch of the Morales family, who managed to survive the initial effects of the zombie outbreak. Morales and his family became part of a convoy that temporarily set up camp at a rock quarry campsite outside of Atlanta, Georgia. After a surprise walker attack at the rock quarry camp, Morales and Daryl Dixon helped move some of the bodies. Glenn was upset that they intended on adding their casualties to a funeral pyre of burning walkers rather than burying them. When Rick convinced the group to head back into the city to find the CDC, Morales told him that his family and he would not be joining them. Rather, they had family in Birmingham, and were going to make a go at trying to reach them.
Rick and Daryl attack one of the Savior's outposts and he goes into an upstairs room, looking at a photograph before someone points a gun at his head and tells him not to move. A stunned Rick sees Morales, who acknowledges he remembers Morales from the Atlanta camp. Morales tells Rick that was a long time ago and reveals himself to be a member of the Saviors, telling Rick that it's over and he's alerted the others to Rick's location.
Morales continues to hold Rick at gunpoint, revealing that his family died on the trip to Birmingham and he went insane until the Saviors found him and gave him purpose again. Despite Rick's objections, Morales sees that Rick and his group are really no different than the Saviors and that Rick is a "monster" as Officer Friendly died back in Atlanta with Rick being more vicious and a cold-blooded killer in comparison to the guy Morales met. Morales is promptly shot in the head with a crossbow bolt by Daryl as Rick pleads for him not to do anything.
