Benjamin O'Connell brings his son John and John's new wife Catherine to the honeymoon suite of a bed and breakfast. He tells them that this is the same room that that he brought his wife to on his own wedding night. In fact, John was conceived in the same room that he is to be staying in this night.
Benjamin holds a dark secret however. The room has magical properties and when opened without hte benefit of light shining in, leads into an altogether different room. Inside is a woman on a four-poster bed. When John disappears into the room, Benjamin confesses to Catherine that he knew of the woman, and once had an affair with her on his wedding night. He left her with child, and she made him promise that he would return to her. Benjamin never kept his promise, so now the woman lays claim to his son instead.
Catherine encounters the woman in the room, and bargains with her to release John if she can bring him Benjamin. Catherine pretends to cry out in pain, urging Benjamin to rush to her aid.
