Maureen Prescott is a fictional actress, Murder victim and a character in the Scream franchise. He was introduced in the 1996 film Scream and is portrayed by actress Lynn McRee who does not appear physically as the character until Scream 3 due to her character's off-screen death prior to the franchise and that film's exploration into her backstory. Maureen's murder directly sparks the events of the first film and indirectly sparks the murder sprees of Scream 2, Scream 3 and Scream 4 as the killers in those films trace some motivation back to the original Woodsboro murders.
