Mary Carlisle was an American film actress, dancer, and singer. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts on February 3rd, 1914. She began her film career during the silent era by playing a minor uncredited role in Long Live the King in 1923. Her only work in the horror genre was playing Gayle Clayton in Sam Newfield's Dead Men Walk in 1943. This was her final work in film. Mary Carlisle passed away in Woodland Hills, California on August 1st, 2018 at the age of 104.

  • Mary Carlisle was discovered by Carl Laemmle, Jr., who offered her a screen test, which got her work for Universal Pictures.
  • Mary's first film work was in Long Live the King in 1923. The film also starred Jackie Coogan, who would go on to portray Fester Addams in the original Addams Family television series. Carlisle and Coogan were both born in the same year, though Jackie passed away in 1984 - thirty years before Mary died.
  • Mary married 20th Century Fox executive James Edward Blakeley in 1942. She retired from acting shortly thereafter.
