Mark Jackson was the brother-in-law of police detective John Hunton. Together, they attempted to solve the mystery of a murderous laundry folding machine located at Gartley's Blue Ribbon Laundry Service. Mark Jackson discovered that the machine had been possessed by a demon that fed on the blood of people who had unwittingly fallen upon its treads. He attempted to exorcise the demon, but the machine killed him.

- The character of Mark Jackson was created by director Tobe Hooper and screenwriters Stephen Brooks and Peter Welbeck based on concepts originally developed by author Stephen King.
- Playing Mark Jackson is Daniel Matmor's second film role and his second work in the horror genre. He previously played a priest in the 1993 film Night Terrors.
