Lucky is an American independent feature film of the psychological thriller subgenre with elements of the slasher subgenre of horror as well. It was directed by Natasha Kermani with a screenplay written by Brea Grant, who also stars in the film as the female lead, May. It was produced by the Epic Pictures Group and premiered at the Fantasia Film Festival on August 23rd, 2020. It was made available on video-on-demand and on the Shudder streaming service on March 4th, 2021.

Plot[]

May is a self-help writer whose work promotes positive reinforcement for women, but her latest book isn't selling very well and she finds herself fatigued. These are the least of May's problems however. She finds herself the target of a masked killer who breaks into her home and attempts to murder her. She fights him off, but the murderer just returns the following evening, and the cycle continues to repeat itself. May seeks aid from local law enforcement, who prove ineffective, and seem more concerned about her relationship with her husband, than with the fear of a predatory killer. Is there truly a madman breaking into her home every night. Is May a victim of mental illness? Or is all this just simply the things are now?
