Lily Munster was one of the central characters on the comedy television program The Munsters, which ran from 1964 to 1966. She was played by actress Yvonne De Carlo. Lily Munster was the matriarch of the Munster family and the wife of Herman Munster. A pragmatic woman by nature, she often had to reign in her loveable husband's foolish antics, as well as deal with issues concerning her young son Eddie and her eccentric father, Grandpa Munster.
Biography[]
Lily and her family lived at 1313 Mockingbird Lane in the town of Mockingbird Heights. Lily always sympathized with her sister's daughter, Marilyn, and invited her into her home. Although Marilyn was not as "normal" as the rest of the Munster family (which is to say, she looked completely normal to regular human beings), Lily always tried to make her feel comfortable and wished for nothing but the best for her. Lily took great interests in Marilyn's failure to maintain a romantic relationship, never realizing that it was she and Herman's bizarre appearance and behavior that often drove Marilyn's potential boyfriends away. Lily tried to forge a friendly relationship with one of Marilyn's boyfriends by attending a masquerade party hosted by his family. Desiring to find the spookiest costume she could, she attended the function as Little Bo Peep. [2]
Soon after, Lily found herself the accidental subject of one of Grandpa's endless plots to help the family out. She unwittingly imbibed a love potion that made her compeltely irresistible to anyone who caught sight of her. In this instance, it was their mailman, Mister Bloom, who found himself smitten with Lily Munster and stopped at nothing to prove his love for her. [3]
