Life After Beth is an American feature film of the comedy and zombie subgenres of horror. It was written and directed by Jeff Baena. It was produced by Destro Films, American Zoetrope, Abbolita Productions, and StarStream Media. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 19th, 2014. It premiered in the United Kingdom at the Edinburgh International Film Festival on June 26th, 2014. It was released online on July 15th, 2014. The movie opened to limited theatrical release in the United States on August 15th, 2014 through A24. It opened in the United Kingdom on October 1st, 2014. The movie stars Aubrey Plaza as Beth Slocum with Dane DeHaan as Zach Orfman. Beth "dies" after suffering a fatal snake bite during a hiking trip, leaving behind grieving boyfriend, Zach, who bonds with Beth's parents. Shortly after the funeral however, Beth awakens and climbs out of her grave. Both her parents and boyfriend are ecstatic to see her alive again, but Beth isn't quite right as Zach comes to quickly learn after she destroys his car, sets a lifeguard stand on fire and explodes in frequent and inexplicable bouts of rage.
